Meet the RHA Staff

Academy Director
Ron Hinse
Ron played hockey for 15 years up to Midget Triple AAA and has coached various teams for 10 years. In 2015 Ron founded JR Riggers as a spring hockey program to supplement the minor hockey winter program. After a few successful spring seasons and a high interest in the program, Ron decided to expand the academy to year-round programming and joined the Hockey Super League (HSL) for the 2019-20 winter season. In 2020, the JR Riggers was rebranded to become Riggers Hockey Academy (RHA). Ron hopes to develop high level hockey players not restricted by boundaries and he strives to meet the developmental goals of families looking for more than what minor hockey offers. His passion for the game extends to RHA and fostering success in the next generation of hockey players.

Recruitment Director
Jon Van Huis
Jon has been involved with high level sport throughout his life. His passion for sports started as a multi sport athlete playing soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and volleyball. His childhood passion was basketball, and he eventually played basketball at the King University College in Edmonton Alberta. He spent two years in this program before he transferred to Iowa to complete his Degree in Education and Physical Education. He then went on to complete his Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration through Concordia University in Irvine, California. Jon has coached athletes in multiple different sports throughout his coaching career (including his three boys!), and has a keen eye for the character traits which allow athletes to be successful both on and off the ice. He loves to spend his free time around the rinks watching young players grow both as athletes and as people.

RHA Goalie Coach
Nathan Park
Nathan brings a deep understanding of the goaltending position to our program. Having played just under 20 years as a goalie, including 4 years of Junior A and 2 years at NAIT, Nathan has pivoted to coaching over the last 4 years.
Having founded True North Goaltending, Nathan focuses on breaking down the position so that goalies understand the why behind what they are doing and can build a solid foundation for consistent and efficient goaltending.

2011 Major Head Coach
Tim Busch
Hockey has been a part of Tim's life since he was a kid. After playing competitive hockey for many years and at many levels- AAA, Junior, and Pro- he never really considered coaching until he was asked to coach at the Bantam level. This is when he realized he had a passion for it. Tim enjoys helping the kids learn and develop, while teaching them the many components of hockey. The fantastic coaching he received at all the levels has given him a strong foundation to build from. Building character, helping kids develop their hockey skills, and making sure their hockey experience will grow friendships for life is his main focus as a coach.

2011 Minor Head Coach
Aaron Borschneck
Aaron began his coaching career seven years ago and has worked with initiation aged players up to and including U11 players. He uses his previous coaching experiences, as well as drawing on his days playing competitively at the Junior level, to leverage his knowledge and experience of the game when working with players and coaches on and off the ice. Aaron's goals include but are not limited to create and maintain a positive atmosphere, improve player skills, and provide the tools needed for athletes to see, understand, and better appreciate the nuances of the game. He strives to help athletes learn and grow from one practice or game to the next, allowing them to improve and reach their maximum potential.
